If I Could Live That Day Again

If I could Live That Day Again
I wrote this song with the help of Declan Cosgrove. I had no idea of the true feeling of losing someone special. The meaning and feeling of a broken heart never came close in my Radar. “The song needs a strong chorus a bridge possibly a few lyric changes” said Declan Cosgrove. I’d booked an hour lesson with him and Aideen Ní Riada. To try and showcase six months of song writing. I sat in front of them both singing and playing my guitar very poorly. Hoping they could see through my inexperience. Amazing how that lesson would change the direction of my life.
I joined a class for singing beginners that Aideen was just about to start up. She was going to call the project ‘The Secret Singers’
My voice has never been good.
BUT - Going to a few classes - Aideen taught me. Just like any musical instrument your vocals has to be trained and tuned properly. Having Said that - The most important lesson I learned was Confidence. To stand up in front of an audience was terrifying. With Confidence it changes from Terrifying to Special.
Declan took my song and rearranged it so beautifully.
The songs I played for that hour were about to come alive . Declan came up to my studio to put some piano tracks down, and ended up becoming my music partner. Putting together a double album called ‘Never2Late’ Volume 1 & 2. Featuring most of my songs plus some amazing people and Wexford musicians that Serendipity had intended me to meet.
Little did I realise that later this song would be played at both my Mum and Dad’s Funerals .. With ..
Goretti Cooper Martin providing her amazing Vocals.
