‘Too Good To Be True’ is the first song I attempted to write and can be found on the 2nd volume of this wonderfully diverse album that my friends Pat Suds & Declan Cosgrove have put together. That song has it’s own story, however, on the back of that experience, I wished to see if I had another song in me. It turns out that I did, who knew?

 

I had the first line “If you know me, like I know you” floating around in my head for quite some time. Then without any rhyme or reason, returning from a shopping trip alone in the car, the chorus took shape and was quickly followed by the verses. By the time I arrived home, the lyrics were complete.

 

I am a member of a wonderful group of people undertaking Declan’s brilliant online piano course which includes weekly live internet meetings. These meetings are very inspiring to us all and help accelerate our learning. I put forward my lyrics to the group with the challenge for each of us to write accompanying music. 

 

It was a great exercise and produced such a variation of musical arrangements. Further to this, it was the idea of my friend Lisa Maher 

(a very talented singer/song writer/musician) 

that the song be recorded as a duet and as the saying goes ‘the rest is history’.
